Eye Exams
Eye Glasses




    Medical Service Bureau provides access to prescription medication, diabetic supplies, low-cost eye exam referrals, and prescription eyeglasses.

    Prescription medication assistance is given through the voucher program, through the Non-Profit Pharmacy, and through the Pharmaceutical Indigent Drug Program. Qualified individuals whose income is at 150 percent of federally establishedcome guidelines may qualify for help through the voucher program. The voucher program purchases needed medications for qualified individuals but on a very limited basis. Single individuals or childless couples haves $100 of voucher money available per year, families with dependent children qualify for up to $300 per household voucher money per year, and seniors qualify for up to $180 of voucher money per senior per year.

    Individuals who earn no more than 200 percent of the federally established income guidelines may qualify for the Pharmaceutical Drug Programs that offer at no cost to the client prescription medication for chronic illnesses. Children may qualify for yearly referrals to low-cost eye-exams and adults may qualify every four years. However, anyone with a chronic illness that affects their eyesight, such as diabetes or high blood pressure may qualify every two years.

    Qualifications

  • You must live or work in Sedgwick County, you do not have to be a U.S. Citizen.
  • You must bring in proof of household income: pay stubs for the last 30 days, proof of Social Security payment for the current year, unemployment statement, etc.
  • You must have a current prescription. Medical Service Bureau does not purchase medications considered narcotics, sleep aids, weight control, or birth control, etc, unless it is for a medical condition and then a doctor's letter must accompany the prescription.
  • Bring a list of all of your medications so we can determine if you qualify for the Pharmaceutical Indigent Drug Programs.
  • If you have prescription coverage or you receive Medicaid you do not qualify for assistance. Medical Service Bureau does not pay co-pay at this time unless you have in Medicare Part D.
